Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Made binding to member states in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in Article 19:

1. Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference.

2. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.

Then how do you get this from member states of the vaunted UN?:

Tech companies and telecom providers in Europe, Australia, and Canada are blocking Russian state-controlled media outlets in light of the Putin regime’s invasion of Ukraine. On February 27, European Union president Ursula von der Leyen tweeted that the “state-owned Russia Today and Sputnik, and their subsidiaries, will no longer be able to spread lies to justify Putin’s war” and announced a ban on these outlets

…so much for freedom of expression and thought. Hell, you don’t even have a right to read the dirty words—like Ivermectin or peace — they don’t want you to read. You want to read about how Uttar Pradesh in India used Ivermectin and early treatment successfully against Covid? Nein!

Here’s a map of how much the ideal of Free Speech, supposedly so important to the very governments who look to limit it, is being curtailed.

Of course it is in all in the name of alleged Misinformation, which is defined as accidental false info. Unlike intentionally misleading information (propaganda) that is commonly used by power structures the world over, known officially as Disinformation.

It is exclusively the speech of people who disagree with the the aforementioned power structures, represented in the West by the UN, WHO, NATO, WEF, etc., that is suppressed. They tell us We Own the Science or even the idiot Fauci’s famous I am the Science.

They own the science and the weapons. They print the money. They will tell you what is information and what is not!

Despite taking the primary position in the Bill of Rights, from which all freedoms flow in the American legal system, the First Amendment has been chiseled away by government and the small minds that run it since its inception. An aggressive advance to speech curtailment was delivered by Oliver Wendell Holmes in Schenk v United States in which the Federal Government punished a peacenik Communist for protesting the first instituted forced draft in the US. This, of course, was brought to us by the incompetent, egoist Woodrow Wilson. The Wilson Administration’s lack of diplomacy and general incompetence, helped usher in the Great War, and then they used propaganda and forced conscription for this war that saw roughly 17,000,000 deaths and 40,000,000 casualties.

Get your head around those numbers and then remember that the results of that war lead consequentially to World War II and its horrors. Then remind me about Oliver Wendell Holmes ‘fire in a crowded theater’ bullshit. This slippery slope and that of the vaguely defined hate speech laws have continued to chill dissent and curtail free speech by the heavy hand of the US government.

And now Progressives, Wilson being one of their progenitors, really do not like free speech and really need you to not use some words. And weirder than the exclusion of what they deem problematic or hateful words is the modern demand that you use certain accepted words, a list of which are found nowhere. Anything to do with gender or race (which covers 100% of the population) must be regulated by the weakest, dumbest, and faintest of heart. This is what a decaying empire looks like. The old values are faint echoes of themselves and we debate nuances that are preposterous.

You either allow all humans to express themselves or you live in a metastasizing Totalitarian Society.
